Light therapy is a medical treatment proposed for depression or related signs, whether seasonal or not, as well as for sleep and circadian rhythm disorders. It can also be prescribed for resistant depressive episodes. Maintaining an internal balance requires receiving a defined level of light. However, the winter season deprives patients of this and accelerates the onset of symptoms such as fatigue or lack of energy.
The therapy consists of exposing the patient to a light with an intensity close to that of sunlight and whose therapeutic effects are well established. Light therapy has many virtues, such as improving mood or regulating sleep. Its antidepressant action makes it a major complement or alternative to drug treatments.
Les Toises - Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Center has equipped a dedicated space with a medical light device.
